Wow – e-learning outside a VLE – how revolutionary or even blasphemic is that?

At ALT-C 2009 in Manchester one of the presentation was on ‘The Death of the VLE’.
Whilst the following discussion established that there might be quite a bit of life left in ye olde VLE it is refreshing to note that staff have started to explore alternative online platforms which may provide a glimps of the way ahead.
From a user’s point of view it will be highly interesting to note how the learning experiences compare?
