Having read Hand (2008) and Poster (2006) during this week, I decided to list some of the utopian and dystopian views on digital cultures:

Digital cultures are good:

facilitate communication,

democracy,

empowerment,

information dissemination,

 ’flattening’

‘moral and spiritual regeneration’

 

Digital cultures are bad:

panopticon

‘information poverty’

‘technical obstacles’

the ‘net elite’

‘unbridled but never-ending choices’ (Hand, 2008, p 31)
